Hi all,
I've redone my Blog, and started a new! Check out my website to see my new blog. I haven't posted many times yet, obviously, but I wanted a new look, and I felt like it was time for a bit of a change since I am more experience with my flock than I was when I created my first blog. (which was when I had my first pair of rouens and was clueless.) so! please go check out the new set up, and follow me! we're known as "Harley's Haven. going to the ducks." Feel free to leave a comment. :)

WH Boy
This boy is so sweet, and friendly. He's so cute, but I have to sell this little guy. He isn't makin' the cut; I have females that need space, and I'm not ready to deal with breeding, broody hens, and hormonal Drakes so I'll have to pass on this little guy, and once I'm ready for a male, and have more space than I'll be able to order some more ducklings.
isn't he cute? :)

My Metzer order arrived. (I am just slow posting it)
I got 5 Welsh harlequins, and 6 Buff Orpingtons; so they sent me one extra. I was so scared to open up the box they were sent in, but every single one is happy and healthy. I re-home four of the buff, and two of the welsh harlequins so I have three WH, and two buff left over. I have to widdle that down to just three ducklings, as I have nine Ancona eggs in the incubator going into lock down on Monday.
I need new pictures but here are the pics I took the first two or three days I had them.
This is Aurora, a gold phase girl
all the girls
buff girl in the front. Ella I think. She and Rosie look very similar!

Just can't wait!
I am thrilled to say that tomorrow my 10 ducklings will be boxed up, and shipped from Metzer's Hatchery in CA, to my house. They should get here on Wednesday morning.
These aren't my pictures, they were saved and taken off of either Google, or BackYard Chickens. Here's an idea of what my Welsh Harlequin, and Buff Orpingtons may look like as babies, and adults.

Blue Belle playing in the mud
Yesterday Blue belle went out to play in the garden puddles, but got scared when she couldn't see me... she started calling out frantically, so I stepped out from behind trees that were blocking her view of me, and said "Duck Duck Duck!" She came waddling as fast as her legs could carry her! I don't think she's going to know how to react when she realizes her mama has ordered ducklings, that will be here next Wednesday; and we've got little anconas in the incubator too. hmm, I'm gonna be over run by babies!! ;)

EGG, and duckling update
My two drakes have been sold, so I just have my swedish, and my ancona eggs right now. However, tomorrow I'll be ordering ducklings from Metzers. Hopefully I'll get a few buffs and a few harlequins.

My eggs are here!
Well, I wanted to post some pictures of my eggs. I got these from a BYC member, and I'm very excited about them! They're Ancona eggs, all colors are a possiblity. So I'm hoping that I'll get at least one lavender and one chocolate female out of it. *please lost of girls! I have too many boys!* One egg cracked, so i'm left with eleven to incubate.

updates
It's been so long since I updated my blog! A lot have happened with my flock in the past few weeks. I sold my female Ancona, and it turns out that my runner is a boy too, so I have two boys and one female (I bought a Blue swedish). I'm contacting a lady with blue swedish babies to find another duckling to hang out with my already owned swedish.
Also, my Ancona hatching eggs should be here tomorrow!

duckling update
Whimsy, and Hiccup are growing up into big ducks quickly, I've added a new member to our little flock-An Indian Runner named Toothless, and in 2 to 3 weeks we'll be bringing home new Welsh Harlequin babies! I'm so excited, I'm not sure how I'll have enough patience to wait for them!

Whimsy and Hiccup
I bought two Anconca babies today! Aren't they adorable? I love their personalities, and they're a much friendlier pair of ducks this time around too. In these pictures the ladies are swimming for the first time. Oh BTW their names are Whimsy, and Hiccup. <3
some water fun on their last day with me. (April 2)
Here's Clover, and Crusier swimming in what used to be their brooder. They were outgrowing it so it became their pool. The dove for the first time! Sadly, I ended up selling these two because they'll be too large when they're full grown. I'll be adding two Anconas, and two Welsh Harlequins, to my little flock. Possibly a Silver Appleyard as well. We'll see how it all goes! :)

The ducklings were let outside in their small fence while I cleaned out their soiled bedding, and water container. once I was done, I sat down outside with them, and my mom, to interact, and watch them enjoy the nice weather; It was rewarding to see my boy (I think it's a boy?) Rouen come running to me when he was frightened by odd sounds, and the dog-Chase. Also, we introduced them to bubbles. ;D
In other news, Clover, my female, took a spill last night when she thought jumping from my hands was a good idea. I thought she had hurt her leg, but seems to be walking on it alright this afternoon.
Best wishes!

We're making progress folks!
This morning my mom told me that last night, as I was headed for bed, she went in to change out the ducklings light to the red heat lamp; Our smaller duckling (believed to be our female) immediately started peeping, freaking out at the close proximity of a human. So, Mom picks her up to hold her for a while.
Whenever we hold just one duckling, other that's left behind cries and cries for his friend, this time mom just let them get all their whining out-until shockingly the young female sat on mom's lap! Had it been our male, I wouldn't be as impressed, but our female seems to be the more skittish of the two, and yet she calmed down long enough to sit with someone.
Mom replaced the girl, and picked up the boy later on, although he hollered as well, he laid down on mom's crossed legs fairly quickly. We're making progress!

Never too many pictures of babies...
My Cousin, Chad, came over to pick up our cat, Tonka and couldn't resist saying hello to the babes.
My dad, holding my Ducklings for me while I clean out their old bedding. They got to swim! In other news, My mom, and I are now thinking that we have one drake, and one hen; we've also finished clearing out the old peach tree, and shrubs for their new Duck pen!

Swimming Lesson!
Here is a snap shot of the babes first time swimming around in water-in the sink no less. I guess you've got to start somewhere. :)

While Mom was buying her own group of Chicks, I was drooling over all the tiny, cute Ducklings. Needless to say, I ended up coming home with two Rouen Ducklings; and a large smile plastered to my face. Here's a picture of the cuties in their pen. We're currently using a large "Tote", until they're bigger.
